Architects and H.B.S., Inc.

We have a lot of experience working with architects, and we know how to help you get the best out of the window and door products you choose. You’re focused on designing a home that meets your client’s needs. When it comes to windows and doors, you’ve got a balance a number of factors, including:

HBS Glass CAD Drawings

  • Space
  • Layout
  • Views
  • Site orientation
  • Natural lighting
  • Energy efficiency
  • Aesthetic appeal
  • Budget

At H.B.S., we can help you with all of these considerations and a few more. Although we choose only windows with the highest technical specifications, we never sacrifice aesthetic appearance for functionality. We know that even the most safety-minded homeowner won’t buy windows that are visually unappealing for his or her home.

Our engineering background provides us with the technical expertise to advise about the product performance of windows, doors, and other glass products—everything from the water resistance to the energy-efficiency. Consultations with our engineer have proven to be a great design resource for the architects in the past.

We’re Your Code Backups

The buck often stops with the architect when it comes to meeting building codes, for everything from plumbing and electric to structural and emergency egress. But no architect can know every code, especially in Southern Florida, where our climate and extreme weather often leads to refinements in hurricane requirements.

You can depend on H.B.S. to know the relevant codes backwards and forwards. We stay up-to-the-minute with the ever-changing wind and waterproofing codes and know exactly which products can meet and exceed the codes in which settings.

We Can Do What the Competition Can’t

A recent customer came to us asking for a 10’ tall sliding glass door beneath a 2’ transom. We immediately knew there was a potential for sagging with such a tall door and transom. And we weren’t interesting in putting in a sliding glass door that wouldn’t open after a few years. Most manufacturers won’t produce anything taller than a 10’, and so many distributors would’ve stopped there.

At H.B.S., we worked with the engineers and sliding glass supplier to design and build a 12’ tall door that met the clients’ needs as well as the technical requirements of the space. We love a good engineering problem, because it gives us an opportunity to show off the skills and knowledge we’ve developed in the industry. And we love meeting our clients’ needs in creative and innovative ways.

We even have a Florida Professional Engineer on staff to review structural strength issues for windows and doors which may relate to size limitations and assembly mullions that must meet the Florida building code.

We’re True Professionals

When you work with H.B.S., you’re not getting the “lumberyard” experience. We’re a professional window and door company that can advise you on the best product choices for every product—not a warehouse staffed by unqualified salespeople.

We have a large showroom where our knowledgeable staff team can assist the architects and owners during the product selection process. They’ll be able to tell you about the advantages and disadvantages of each product when it comes to code, energy-efficiency, waterproofing, and more.
